Quilters make blankets to comfort soldiers
A 20-year-old soldier named Aaron came back from Iraq and arrived at the burn center of Madigan Army Hospital in Washington state. He'd lost an eye and an arm and more than 50 percent of his body was burned. Click for PDF.
This year, it's Grandma's turn
Hours before the 2007 Elkhart County 4-H Fair queen passed on her crown, another family member picked one up. Katie Sautter, grandmother to last year's queen, Mekayla Diehl, was named the 2008 Senior Fair Queen. When she heard her name called, she was shocked. "My knees were shaking," said Sautter, a Bristol resident. PDF
Four-year-old Payton Starzyk loves soccer and baseball, Spider- Man and Batman, and wrestling with his dad. "Payton is all boy," said his dad, Steve Starzyk. "For the most part he's fairly normal." The part of Payton's young life that hasn't been normal, began when he was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) at 18 months old. PDF
